Users
A User in Omnia LIMS is defined as a person who has authorization from the Laboratory to access to Omnia LIMS. Access to the Users section within Omnia LIMS is controlled by permissions setup by the Laboratory's LIMS Admin or other authorized users.
The following Actions can be performed on the Users Page:
- View Users
- Add Users
- Edit Users
- Lock Users
- Enable/Disable Users
- Assign/Remove Roles (permissions)
- Reset User Passwords
- View User Activity Logs (Order/Case level log)
- View User Profile Logs (User account level log)
Access Users Page:
To access the Users page, click on the Menu button, then click Settings, Users. Users that do not have the permission access Users will not see this option on the Menu.
Add Users:
To add a new User, navigate to the Users page, then click Add User in the top right.
Clicking the Add User button will pop-up a small window for you to enter the new User information.
You are required to enter in the User's Last Name, First Name, User Name, Roles, and Password.
User Name: Unique identifier the User will use to log-in and use Omnia LIMS
Report Printer: Deprecated
Label Printer: Select the default label printer.
Roles: The set of permissions assigned to the User
Locked: A User account becomes Locked when the User failed to log-in more than 5 times. A Locked User account must be unlocked by an authorized User before the Locked User can try again.
View Users
You will immediately be able to view the Users once you access the Users page.
Users can be filtered by Last Name, First Name, Email, Locked status, Expired status, and Username. From the Users page, you can enable/disable a User, view User details, edit the User, and view the logs.

Edit Users
To Edit a User, go to the Users page, find the User, then click the pencil icon on the left-hand side of the screen. See the screenshot above for reference.
Once the pencil is clicked a pop-up window will display the current User details. These details can be edited in this window.
Locked Users
When a User fails to log-in more than 5 times, the User's account will become Locked.
A Locked User account cannot be used to log-in to Omnia LIMS.
ALocked User account must be unlocked before the user can try to Log-in again. To unlock a User, Go to the Users page, find the User, click on the pencil icon to Edit User, then uncheck the Locked checkbox.
Enable/Disable Users
Enabled accounts are for authorized users to access the LIMS. User accounts are Enabled by default when the new User is added.
Disabled accounts are users who are no longer authorized to access the LIMS. To Disable an account, access the Users page, then click on the users Enabled checkbox. An unchecked box means the account is disabled.

Assign/Remove Roles (permissions)
Roles are groups of permissions used to allow/prevent users from performing specific actions or going to specific pages within Omnia. Roles are required for each user.
To assign/remove a Role, navigate to the Users page, click on the pencil icon, then click on Roles. This will pop-up a list of available roles.
Roles that are checked off currently assigned on the user. Uncheck the Role to remove the User from selected Role.
To assign a Role, check off the Role to be assigned.
Reset User Passwords
Authorized users may reset passwords for other Users.
To reset a password, navigate to the Users page, click on the pencil icon, then enter in the new temporary password in the 'Password' and 'Retype Password' fields.
When a User password is reset, the User will be prompted to enter in a new password on their next log-in.
View User Activity Logs (Order/Case level log)
User Activity Logs track changes the user makes within the LIMS.
View User Profile Logs (User account level log)
User Profile Logs track changes to the User account
